The end-of-year assessments at the Lyre music school on Wednesday, April 8th, distinguished four students who will be among the budding musicians in the grand orchestra. With a pianist from Burgundy, public auditions were held for the clarinet, oboe, double bass, string, and trumpet at the Lyre’s auditorium.

This was an important moment in these students’ journeys; it rewarded their hard work, dedication, and passion at the end of the first cycle allowing them to join the grand orchestra or during the second cycle for performers with more experience.

The juries, composed of external Dijon professors at Lyre, were able to appreciate each student’s progress, musical quality, and artistic commitment.

James Weeb, 13 years old on the clarinet (1st mention), Eva Godonnier, 13 years old on the oboe (2nd mention), Aurore Rollin on double bass (2nd mention), 40 years old, Nathan Vomerel, 17 years old on the trumpet (2nd mention) had to perform a ten-minute musical program with their favorite instrument.

“These assessments are also essential steps to build autonomous and fulfilled musicians,” said a satisfied Marie-Christine Remongin, the Lyre’s director. “The students presented have the potential to move on to the grand orchestra. Otherwise, they will remain in inter-cycles to progress.”

The week ended on Saturday, April 11th, with an evaluation in percussion by Jérémie Cassent.

The Lyre will continue its activities with a May 1st day dedicated to a “double bass and strings” meeting, gathering five participants with their usual teacher, Benoît Devanne. On May 8th, around fifty Lyre performers will be mobilized for commemorative ceremonies in Culmont, Torcenay, and Chalindrey.
