The US military opened fire on an Iranian cargo ship on Sunday that was trying to break the US blockade of Iranian ports. Washington has since announced that they have taken control of the enemy destroyer.
Iran has promised to “respond soon” to the US Navy taking control of one of its cargo ships that was trying to break the blockade of Iranian ports imposed by the United States.
“The armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran will respond soon and take retaliatory action against this act of armed piracy and against the American military,” wrote the spokesperson for the Iranian military on Telegram. He accused the United States of “violating the two-week ceasefire” in effect since April 8.
American Shots President Donald Trump announced on Sunday on his Truth Social network that the US Navy had fired on the Iranian-flagged cargo ship Touska in the Gulf of Oman and taken control of it.
Iran had lifted its blockade of the Strait of Hormuz on Friday, through which a fifth of the world’s oil and natural gas trade normally passes, but announced on Saturday that they were taking back “strict control” in response to the US decision to maintain their blockade of its ports.
In a previous message on Sunday, Donald Trump accused Tehran of violating the ceasefire, which expires on Wednesday, by launching attacks on Saturday in the Strait of Hormuz, targeting a French and British ship, according to him.
