Terre de Saut, a documentary shot in Millau by Marion Bargès, will make its debut at the Millau cinema on April 23rd at 8pm.

Taking a morning dip in the Dourbie River under the Massebiau bridge is also an opportunity to look up and admire a parachute unfolding in the air after a base jumper takes off. The exit point, called “Bikini beach,” is a classic spot in the region favored by practitioners. The area, with its cliffs and viaducts, offers beautiful locations to enjoy the wind. This is what Marion Bargès documents in “Terre de Saut.” The film will be screened on April 23rd at the Millau cinema.

To illustrate this gem of base jumping, the local expert Marion Bargès approached Gillian Hamcy and Orlane Walbec. “I had a real crush on them and their way of living and connecting with the environment,” said Marion Bargès, the director. “We discover how they contribute to the development of the sport through popularization, Gillian’s school, and its presence at the Natural Games.”

The filming started in 2022. It is the result of work that began in April 2022. The Seize9 team accompanied the two Millavois in their practice, covering several kilometers and significant elevation gain. “It’s our first documentary, and it’s a bit scary to think that our images will be shown on the big screen,” smiled Marion Bargès. To finalize the project, she was supported by the Aveyron Department through the “Aveyron terre de tournage” program, the Regional Natural Park of the Grands Causses, the tourist office, the community of communes, as well as Auglans genius civil and Sud Métal industry.

On Thursday, don’t expect an adrenaline-packed moment like typical base jumping productions. “We don’t want to showcase the sport through a fast-paced montage. Our artistic direction will focus on the coherence of a lifestyle. It will be quite contemplative, with the Seize9 touch.” To experience it, mark your calendars for April 23rd at 8pm.
