It’s a huge performance for French padel. Jérémy Robert and Olivier Guy de Chamisso, only U18, won the FIP Bronze Marnes at home by defeating the 3rd seed Samuel Rivas Garcia/Nicolas Zurita in a completely controlled final: 6/3 6/4.
An outstanding performance for the two young Frenchmen who clinched their first international title at home in France, in front of their family and fans.
In this final, the two French players delivered a show for 52 minutes.
Jérémy Robert was impressive in the offensive phases, constantly gaining momentum throughout the match, causing a lot of damage in the attacking game.
On his side, Olivier Guy de Chamisso also put on a remarkable performance. Very consistent from start to finish, he perfectly supported his partner and raised his level in crucial moments, especially in the second set.
The two French players managed to make the difference at the right moment in each set. In the second set, they broke at 5-4 to clinch the title with great mastery.
Facing them, Zurita and Rivas were sometimes rushed, especially in smashes towards the end of the match, allowing the French to counter them effectively.
This title concludes an incredible week for Robert and Guy de Chamisso.
Their journey almost ended in the first round against Nathan Courrin/Thomas Seux, where they had to save match points.
Then, the two U18 players changed gears completely:
– victory over the 8th seed in the round of 16, – victory over the 11th seed in the quarterfinals, – incredible comeback in the semifinals against the 4th seed Juan Zamora Perez/Alejandro Garcia Calahorro: 2/6 7/6 6/1, – before cruising in the final against the 3rd seed.
They also benefited from the withdrawal of the top seed before the tournament started, but this does not diminish their immense performance throughout the week.
Before this tournament, the two young French players had never reached a FIP Bronze semifinal.
This time, they leave with the trophy and 40 FIP points, allowing them to make a significant jump in the world rankings.
Their level of play, maturity, and ability to perform under pressure impressed everyone this week.
Clearly, Robert and Guy de Chamisso represent the future of French padel, and this victory could be the start of something great.
Awaited at the FIP Silver Bandol, the two young French players will be back on the French courts soon.
On this occasion:
– Olivier Guy de Chamisso will play with Manuel Vives, – while Jérémy Robert will share the court with Maxime Joris.
