I really caught the taste of filmmaking: Olivier Thouret, the child from La Ciotat who embarked on cinema

Olivier Thouret lives in Paris but is native to La Ciotat and enjoys coming back to the South. “When I was a child, I wanted to be a train driver!” he recalls with a smile. “But that wasn’t possible, and I became an actor!” At 20 years old, the young man took theater classes in La Ciotat and then was accepted at Actor’s Sud, the acting school in Marseille directed by Robert Manara. “There, for two years, I really learned the craft,” he explains. “Afterward, I initially turned to one-man shows. But the major turning point in my career was my meeting in 2016 with director Laurent Cantet. He entrusted me with the role of Teddy in ‘The Workshop,’ his film shot in La Ciotat. It was a revelation. When I wasn’t acting, I spent all my time watching the crew on set. I really caught the filmmaking bug.”
