An inspiring story that will make many envious. Australian pop queen Kylie Minogue surprised a fan by joining him in singing while he played the piano at an event in London for the premiere of a new Netflix documentary series about the 57-year-old singer.
Rudi Douglas, a 39-year-old Irish musician, had been hired to perform at the event on May 18 without knowing about the surprise that awaited him.
Interviewed on Friday, May 22 by Sky News, the music lover explained that his contract only required a piano performance. However, Netflix members invited him to sing a few songs after hearing him sing well while warming up. That’s when Kylie Minogue surprised him, as you can see in the video above this article.
As the Irish artist began to sing “Dancing” by Kylie Minogue, a track from her “Golden” album, the singer arrived on stage to perform a duet with him. Rudi Douglas appeared surprised and moved by this impromptu concert.
It was a dream come true for someone who won tickets to see the star in 2018 after being among the top 0.1% of her most dedicated Spotify listeners. “I couldn’t show her how much I love her and her music other than by playing this song on the piano and singing it to her,” Rudi Douglas told Sky News.
This event coincided with the release on May 20 on Netflix of the three-episode series “Kylie,” produced by Michael Harte. In this documentary, Kylie Minogue reflects on her phenomenal rise, her biggest international hits like “Can’t Get You Out of My Head,” and also touches on more personal topics. She reveals that in early 2021, she was diagnosed with breast cancer again after an initial diagnosis in 2005 and remission.
