Paris FC advances to women’s championship final by defeating PSG 1-0 on Saturday night at Jean-Bouin.
In a tightly contested Parisian derby, the only goal of the match came in the 88th minute. On a pass from captain Clara Mateo, Hawa Sangare, who came on as a substitute fifteen minutes earlier, outpaced Paulina Dudek before beating the opposing goalkeeper. Second in the regular season, Paris FC also secured their spot in the Champions League group stage. Sandrine Soubeyrand’s team will face Lyon on May 29 at Groupama Stadium. Lyon’s women crushed Nantes 8-0 earlier in the day.
PSG falls short in semi-final
PSG thought they had scored twice. In the 43rd minute, Isabela’s shot was ruled out for offside after a VAR review. Then in the 54th minute, Rasheedat Ajibade’s goal was also disallowed after a handball by the attacker was detected. In the 70th minute, Elisa De Almeida hit the crossbar from a corner. The introduction of Romane Leuchter, the league’s top scorer, in the 67th minute was not enough to turn the tide, despite a good chance in stoppage time blocked by Ould Hocine.
