The Los Angeles Lakers could regain their leader. Injured in the hamstrings (grade 2), Luka Doncic is progressing in his rehabilitation.
Coach JJ Redick confirmed that the Slovenian was making progress and had resumed movement exercises on the field today:
“Most of his exercises (before) were static,” he explained.
“He is progressing, but no update on any return date,” he added.
An estimate around early May
In the absence of an official date, a sports doctor provides a first reference point. According to Jesse Morse, this type of progression – from static to dynamic work – for this injury generally corresponds to a return between 10 and 14 days. A timeframe that would place Luka Doncic’s comeback between May 6 and 10.
A consistent estimate with a possible presence in the second round of the playoffs.
A strategic return for the rest of the playoffs
Absent since April 2, Luka Doncic even made a trip to Europe to undergo specific treatment.
In the meantime, the Los Angeles Lakers have taken the lead in their series against the Houston Rockets (3-1).
If the qualification is confirmed, Doncic’s return timing could coincide with a much tougher series.
An uncertainty that remains
Despite these positive signs, caution is still advised. Hamstring injuries are sensitive and can relapse quickly if the return is rushed. The Lakers’ staff should therefore prefer a gradual approach.
At this stage, no official date has been set. But for the first time, a credible timeframe is emerging for the return of Luka Doncic. Does this suggest that the defeat last night is good news? And that the Lakers would have preferred to go to 6 or 7 games against the Rockets?
