On Thursday, May 21st at 7 pm, the Puigmal cinema will host Maxime Rey who will present “Partir,” his documentary film that recounts his three-year worldwide bicycle journey.
Organized by the Pyrénées-Cerdagne community of communes, this cinema-exchange event celebrates the national “May for Biking” initiative, dedicated to promoting cycling in all its forms. Through a three-year bike journey, Maxime Rey circled the globe: 57,000 kilometers and 52 countries. From scorching deserts to Himalayan passes, he traversed extreme landscapes and had unforgettable encounters throughout his adventure. With his bike, he takes the viewer on a quest for slowness in the heart of a fast-paced world, an immersion in humanity at handlebar height, in a universal human adventure: the discovery of the world and oneself, guided by a deep longing to depart. “Viewers will dive into a inspiring human and cycling adventure, exploring new horizons through the power of the legs,” explain Axelle Soubielle and Adrien Thillard from the intermunicipal organization.
The screening will be followed by a discussion and exchange session with Maxime Rey, “offering everyone the opportunity to share their travel dreams, discuss soft mobility, or ask questions about bicycle travel.”
