The “Women In Motion” evening, an essential event of the Cannes Film Festival since 2015, pays tribute each year to women in cinema. This year, it honored an American actress in front of a crowd of stars.

After celebrating its tenth anniversary at the Cannes Film Festival in 2025, “Women In Motion” continues its mission to highlight women in cinema. In addition to its series of talks held at the Penthouse du Carlton, the program launched by Kering presented its two annual awards last night: the “Women In Motion” Emerging Talent Award to Margherita Spampinato and the “Women In Motion” Prize to Julianne Moore.

Celebrities present at the festival gathered at the Suquet heights in Cannes to celebrate these two talents. Isabelle Huppert and Rami Malek posed together on the red carpet, joined by Charlotte Lebon and Daisy Edgar Jones. Also in attendance were Carla Bruni, Pierre Niney and his wife Natasha Andrews, Laure Calamy, Leïla Bekhti, Xavier Dolan, actress-director Monia Chokri, Farida Khelfa, musician Pomme, and Demi Moore.

Following a word from Francois-Henri Pinault, President of the Board of Directors of Kering and founder of “Women In Motion,” Iris Knobloch, President of the Cannes Film Festival, emphasized the importance of visibility turning into opportunities. Italian filmmaker Margherita Spampinato received her award for her debut film “Gioia Mia.”

Thierry Frémaux, Festival General Delegate, then presented Julianne Moore with her award, recognizing her as the first American actress to receive acting awards at the festivals of Venice (Far From Heaven, 2002), Berlin (The Hours, 2003), and Cannes (Maps to the Stars, 2014). Moore expressed her love for actresses on stage, acknowledging her friend Salma Hayek Pinault and Isabelle Huppert. She highlighted the importance of women’s voices and the need for female perspectives, addressing a crowd that included female directors of the 2026 edition such as Chloe Zhao and Géraldine Nakache. Géraldine Nakache is this year’s guest for a “Women In Motion” talk about her fourth film, “Si tu penses bien,” selected for Cannes Première.
