When it comes to Loana or Benjamin Castaldi, Loft Story has been a real stepping stone in their careers. Remember, in 2001, M6 decided to launch the first reality TV show in France. The concept is simple: lock several candidates in a house for several weeks and film them to capture all their interactions. Among the candidates of this first season of Loft Story, we can mention Loana, the big winner. Unfortunately, while this victory could offer her fame and a significant sum of money, she experienced a real desert journey in the decades following the filming of the show. Up to the tragedy that occurred on March 25, 2026, when her lifeless body was found by firefighters at her home in Nice, after she had shown no signs of life for several days.

Benjamin Castaldi on the death of Loana: “She is better where she is”

Of course, Benjamin Castaldi, who hosted Loft Story, is one of those who knew the star best. In an interview with “Télé poche”, he reveals how difficult this loss still is for him: “I took it quite badly to tell you the truth. Loana’s death brought back twenty years of my life,” he first confessed, although he reassures himself by mentioning Loana’s suffering over the years: “As if the loop was closed and it was a final point in my career. For the rest, sincerely, I think she is better where she is than where she was,” he explains. He was present at Loana’s funeral held on Friday, April 10, 2026, at 11 am at the Cathedral of Saint Reparata in Nice.

Benjamin Castaldi: his radical decision after Loana’s death

After the announcement of Loana’s death, Benjamin Castaldi was one of the first to react and especially to acknowledge the responsibility that the television industry had in the star’s various addictions: “That’s also why we let her down. We applauded her light… without protecting her shadow. We consumed her authenticity… without measuring the price she would pay. We watched her live, love, fall… without ever really wondering who would lift her up afterwards. The truth is, we are all a bit responsible. Because we all watched. Because we all commented. Because we all, at some point, looked away when it became too hard,” he admitted, before deciding not to tour TV sets to discuss this tragedy. “I have already expressed everything I had on my heart in the text I published, and today I feel the need to stop. We cannot both denounce the violence of the media machine and continue to fuel it even with the best intentions,” he justified. It is still a fresh mourning for the host, who seems to see in Loana’s disappearance the end of a chapter.
