Drones and Russian missiles have killed at least 5 and injured 46 people in the Ukrainian city of Dnipro, authorities said on Saturday.

The bodies of four people were found in the ruins of a destroyed house during the overnight attacks, said Oleksandr Hanzha, governor of Dnipropetrovsk oblast.

“The Russians struck Dnipro and other cities and towns practically all night,” Mr. Hanzha wrote on Telegram about the attacks, which caused fires throughout the city and partially destroyed several residential buildings, shops, and a private house.

Another person was killed on Saturday afternoon in another Russian attack on Dnipro, Mr. Hanzha said, in the same residential area hit by the overnight strikes. He reported that a total of 46 people were injured.

In southwestern Ukraine, two people were injured in drone attacks overnight in the Odessa region. Residential buildings, port infrastructure, and cars were damaged in the southern part of the region, Governor Oleh Kiper said on Saturday.

In Russia, a woman was killed and a man seriously injured by a Ukrainian drone strike in the border region of Belgorod, local officials said.

Following the overnight attacks, the Romanian Ministry of Defense announced on Saturday that drone fragments were found in a residential area of Galați, in the southeastern part of the country near the NATO member’s border with Ukraine. No casualties were reported.

Romania has confirmed multiple times the presence of drone fragments on its territory.

These overnight attacks followed a prisoner exchange on Friday, during which 193 soldiers returned to their respective countries.

These periodic exchanges of prisoners have been one of the few positive outcomes of negotiations, otherwise unsuccessful, conducted for months between Moscow and Kyiv under the auspices of the United States. The talks have made no progress on the crucial issues hindering the end of the Russian invasion of its neighbor, now in its fifth year.

During a meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on Saturday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Ukraine was willing to continue peace talks with Russia in Azerbaijan.

“We have already held such discussions in Turkey and with our American partners in Switzerland,” he emphasized. “We are also ready for the next negotiations in Azerbaijan, if Russia is ready for diplomacy.”
