A shooting occurred late Saturday night at the University of Iowa in the midwestern United States, according to the institution. “Emergency services are on site. Confirmed victims. Please avoid the area,” the university said in a statement posted on its website shortly after 2 a.m. local time.

Victims Taken to Hospital

A police investigation has been launched. “At 1:46 a.m., the police were called for a violent altercation,” it said on its site. “Several victims were taken to hospitals in the region to receive treatment for their gunshot wounds. No information is currently available regarding their condition.”
