In this regard, the Marseille club made significant changes, parting ways with players like Quentin Merlin, Chancel Mbemba, Luiz Felipe, and Derek Cornelius. Many new recruits followed as OM welcomed Nayef Aguerd, Benjamin Pavard, Facundo Medina, CJ Egan-Riley, Emerson, and Timothy Weah.

A defense in great difficulty
