A new tragedy in the United States after a shooting on a university campus. A police investigation is underway after shots were fired in the night from Saturday to Sunday on the campus of the University of Iowa, in the central-west of the country, the institution indicated. “Emergency services are on site. Confirmed victims. Please avoid the area,” the university said in a statement posted on its website shortly after 2 am (9 am French time). According to the latest information, three students were injured by gunfire.
A violent fight at the origin of the drama
The university indicated that gunshots were reported near the intersection of College Street and Clinton Street, a neighborhood known for its nightlife.
“At 1:46 am, the police were called for a violent fight that occurred in the area of 100 East College Street. Upon their arrival, the officers heard gunshots,” the municipal authorities specified in a statement. “Several victims were transported to hospitals in the region to receive treatment for their gunshot wounds. No information is currently available regarding their condition.” At the moment, no arrests have been made.
