The T1 model of the Trump Mobile subsidiary of the president’s group is finally only assembled in the United States, with imported components.
Buyers of the Trump smartphone (gold color of course) will finally receive their device. A year after its announcement with great fanfare and after several delays, the first orders “will be shipped this week,” Trump Mobile announced on Wednesday, May 13th. While Donald Trump is accustomed to leveraging his presidency to profit from the sale of derivative products bearing his name, this project was also meant to show that phones could be manufactured in the United States rather than China.
In recent months, the marketing and political operation aimed at promoting “Made in the USA” seemed to be faltering. The T1, also known as the smartphone, was supposed to be available in August 2025, then in October, before being postponed indefinitely. The company, a subsidiary of the Trump Organization, did not disclose the number of pre-orders received.
Only assembled in the United States
The final model looks nothing like the initial presentation in the summer of 2025. Its design is rather ordinary, except for its gold-colored shell with the “TRUMP MOBILE” logo and the American flag printed on the back. It features four cameras up to 50 MP (front, rear, 2x zoom, wide angle), 512 GB of storage, and runs on the Android operating system. It is sold at a “promotional price” of $499.
The phone that was supposed to be manufactured in the United States ran into the reality of the situation. The CEO of Trump Mobile, Pat O’Brien, assured USA Today that it was indeed assembled in the United States, in Florida, but most components are imported from Asia. At least for the initial units produced, as subsequent ones will use components primarily manufactured on-site, added Pat O’Brien, without specifying which ones.
All pre-orders should be fulfilled in the coming weeks. “The delays were definitely worth it in our opinion, as we are releasing an incredible product,” Pat O’Brien praised. This may not necessarily be the opinion of tech experts based on the announced capabilities, but for buyers of this product targeting ultra-supporters of the president, what matters in the end is not the performance of the hardware but having a Trump symbol in their pocket.
