At a meeting of Politburo members, including Pham Gia Tuc, Permanent Vice Minister; General Phan Van Giang, Vice Minister and Minister of National Defense; Le Hoai Trung, Minister of Foreign Affairs; and leaders of ministries and central agencies, a discussion was held to evaluate achievements, clarify difficulties, analyze global developments impacting Vietnam, and identify issues in diplomatic sector development. The meeting also focused on tasks and solutions for the coming period related to foreign affairs, deepening relationships, and diplomatic service for development.
The meeting concluded with Prime Minister Le Minh Hung emphasizing the importance of international relations and continuous integration as a key task identified by the XIV National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, reflecting a strategic shift in party thinking. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has restructured to unify foreign affairs management, advise the Party and State on strategic orientation, and implement diplomatic policy.
The Prime Minister acknowledged the efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in maintaining peace, stability, and friendly relations with other countries. Efforts have contributed to theoretical thinking and strategic policy orientations, strengthening the country’s position and prestige.
Looking ahead, the Prime Minister stressed the need for a strong Party organization, attention to party-building and internal security, and urgent implementation of specific foreign policy orientations. The focus is on enhancing research, consultation, evaluation, and forecasts related to global and regional situations.
The Premier urged for the acceleration of establishing a comprehensive, modern, and professional diplomatic sector, requiring proactive and diligent operation of overseas representatives to strengthen cooperation.
The Academy of Diplomacy was advised to focus on faculty development, innovative training, strategic research, and international collaboration to tailor diplomatic policies to the national and international situation.
Lastly, the Ministries and agencies were directed to collaborate on tasks and solutions within their authority, ensuring proactive implementation of relevant measures, with a report to the Prime Minister on any issues beyond their scope.
