The Prime Minister Le Minh Hung: Advice on a comprehensive and vigorous reform of foreign affairs.

The morning of May 11, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung chaired a working session with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to discuss the progress made during the past period, as well as the urgent and strategic orientations and tasks for the future.

Present at the meeting were Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc; General Phan Van Giang, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense; Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung; Minister and Chief of the Government Office Dang Xuan Phong; as well as leaders from ministries, agencies, and organizations.

Delegates focused on evaluating achievements, clarifying difficulties and obstacles to overcome, analyzing the evolving global situation and its impact on Vietnam, and addressing issues related to diplomatic sector development.

The meeting also addressed key tasks and solutions for the upcoming period, emphasizing the implementation of foreign policy missions in accordance with central committee, politburo, and secretariat guidelines, deepening bilateral and multilateral relations, and utilizing diplomacy to serve development.

Prime Minister Le Minh Hung highlighted the importance of enhancing external relations and international integration as a crucial and ongoing task, signaling a major strategic shift in the Party’s thinking.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, after restructuring, aims to unify state management of foreign affairs within the political system, advise the Party and State on strategic orientation, and implement Party foreign policy, state diplomacy, and interpersonal diplomacy.

The global situation has rapidly evolved, becoming complex and unpredictable. These changes directly impact Vietnam, requiring proactive strategies, strategic forecasts, policy responses, and emergency plans for various scenarios.

Acknowledging the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ efforts, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung emphasized the need to address limitations and challenges and transform work methods to meet new requirements.

Moving forward, the focus is on building a strong Party organization, enhancing Party construction and internal security, and implementing key policy directions for international integration.

Efforts will be made to improve research quality, consultation, evaluation, and forecasting, adjust strategies based on partner policies, and prevent risks to national security and development through robust diplomatic measures.

The transformation and modernization of the diplomatic sector, active participation in international activities, close monitoring of global situations, and swift policy-making for cooperation enhancement will be crucial.

Furthermore, digitization, performance-based management, efficient lobbying for international commitments, and proactive engagement with high-level leaders are highlighted.

The Academy of Diplomacy will prioritize professional faculty development, innovative training methods, strategic research, and collaboration with national and international experts to enhance diplomatic policies.

These recommendations and proposals from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be carefully considered and acted upon to strengthen overall diplomatic efforts in line with national policy objectives.
