On Saturday, May 23, the Sailor Wake Park will come alive with the Occitanie Cable Wakeboarding Championship, bringing together between 30 and 50 competitors from the entire region.
Located at the heart of the Parc des Dosses, just a stone’s throw away from the water-skiing center, the Sailor Wake Park has established itself as one of the essential spots for gliding in the Pyrénées-Orientales. With its 160-meter water ski lift, bi-pulley, and various technical modules like kickers, rails, box, tube, and wave, it offers an ideal playground.
Organized by the Barca Wake Family, the only cable wakeboarding association in the department, this event will highlight a sport combining technical skill, creativity, and thrills. Founded in 2004, the association works to promote water sports, train young riders, and support the athletic development of its licensed members. Several riders from the club have excelled at regional, national, and even international levels.
This show is open to everyone throughout the day, where the audience can witness the performances of various categories including U11, U14, U18, Men’s Open, Women’s Open, Handi, and Wakeskate. Aerial feats, speed, balance, and technical mastery will provide an attractive spectacle, where athletic performance and a friendly atmosphere will merge with the excitement of the tricks.
Official training sessions and registrations will take place starting from Friday, May 22, ahead of the competition day on Saturday, May 23, starting at 9:30 am, with the award ceremony at 4:30 pm. From 5 pm, at the water-skiing center, a kicker contest (jump competition) will be open to all (licensed and non-licensed participants).
This championship promises a memorable day where athletic performances and a friendly atmosphere will blend with the thrill of the tricks and strong sensations.
