On May 12th, the opening ceremony, broadcast live on France 2, brought together 4.6 million viewers cumulatively, with a peak of 2.2 million. The launch was particularly well-followed, with a strong presence of the festival in online conversations throughout the first week. From Brut.’s side, the live broadcast of the ceremony, combined with content produced on all its platforms, generated 113.5 million views worldwide.

As of May 20th, the hashtag #Cannes2026 had accumulated 1.4285 billion views, 50,167 unique posts, and 2.072 million shares on social media platforms worldwide, demonstrating continued strong international interest in the event.

This exceptional visibility owes much to the involvement of Cannes Film Festival partners, especially Brut. and France Télévisions.

To date, Brut. has impressive numbers, surpassing one billion video views on its #Cannes2026 content, nearly doubling the figures from 2025. From France TV’s perspective, the performances are also excellent, with 270 million views, a four-fold increase from the previous year.

On the official social media platforms of the Cannes Film Festival, the partnership with Meta this year has expanded the reach of festival content to new international audiences, reinforcing a growth trend that has been ongoing for several years with a cumulative community of over 3.5 million subscribers to date. Since the announcement of the official selection on April 10th, content published by the festival has garnered over 337 million views, a growth of over 273% compared to the same period in 2025.

Beyond the numbers, this sustained media coverage reflects the attention given to films, artists, discoveries, and memorable moments of this 79th edition, predominantly focusing on the Competition.

The Cannes Film Festival expresses warm thanks to the media, partners, and audiences worldwide who are involved in celebrating cinema, creation, and culture, leading up to the final three days of the festival culminating in the unveiling of the Palme d’Or 2026.
