On Saturday 16th May, the departmental mini-badminton championship (U9) and young pigeons (U11) took place at the Willy Etiève complex in Pradines.
Young players from various clubs in the department were able to compete for the title in both categories, in singles (boys and girls) and doubles (boys and girls as well). Nearly 40 matches were played in the afternoon with a new counting system of 2 sets won by 15 points.
The Lot Badminton Committee, organizer of the competition in partnership with Pradines Badminton Club, would like to thank the volunteers, coaches, parents, and players for their sportsmanship. They also noted the smooth running of the competition despite the stakes and suspense.
Pradines Badminton dominated the podiums: out of 7 podiums in the competition, the club won 5 titles. Champions from the club include Pablo Chatelin-Vavasseur in SH young pigeon, Anaëlle Guirado in SD young pigeon, Amelia Cuche in SD mini-badminton, Tinaël Soupa and Amelia Cuche in mini-badminton doubles, Rose Bourmaud and Anaëlle Guirado in DD young pigeon.
They are vice champions: Pablo Chatelin-Vavasseur and Timéo Boumbaly in DH young pigeon, Rose Bourmaud in SD young pigeon, Adèle Bourmaud in SD mini-badminton.
They came in third: Tinaël Soupa in SH mini-badminton, Savannah Cuche in SD mini-badminton, Timéo Boumbaly in SH young pigeon. Special mention to Amelia and Anaëlle who achieved the double in singles and doubles.
On May 30th and 31st, adult competitors from the department will meet in Vigan to compete for the adult departmental title. More than a hundred players are expected at this competition with over 200 matches scheduled. Registrations are still open.
