The 2025/2026 Ligue 1 season came to a close on Sunday evening with a huge nine-game multiplex. One of the main focuses of this multiplex on Matchday 34 was the race for European places, particularly in the Champions League. Third-placed Lille suffered a 0-2 defeat at home to Auxerre, but this loss does not affect their Champions League qualification, as they will be playing in the C1 next season alongside PSG and RC Lens, following Lyon’s heavy 0-4 defeat to Lens.
With this setback, Paulo Fonseca’s men (4th) will first compete in Champions League qualifications. Marseille, who defeated Rennes 3-1, finished 5th and secured a spot in the C3 group stage, while Rennes will have to go through qualification rounds for the Conference League. The big loser of the evening was AS Monaco, who were beaten 5-4 by Strasbourg. However, Monaco still has one last chance to qualify for C4 if RC Lens wins the Coupe de France.
French Clubs Qualified for European Competitions:
- Champions League: PSG, Lens, and Lille
- Champions League (Qualifications): Lyon
- Europa League: Marseille
- Conference League (Qualifications): Rennes
