On Saturday, May 16, from 10 am to 6 pm, Germanor will be turned into a huge playground for the City’s Sports Festival. Designed as a popular, family-friendly, and inclusive day for all, this free event promises a fun and sporty experience where people of all ages can test, discover, and share a variety of activities without the constraints of time or complex registration.

The program includes 14 sports workshops created by the future young sports educators from Emsat, who will be on hand to supervise and secure the activities. “The aim is to bring families, friends, create teams freely as desired,” explained organizers Alexandre Sisousthone and Frédéric Baudet. Everything is designed like a sports amusement park where everyone can come, leave, participate, and enjoy at their own pace. Each participant can choose their own route, move from one workshop to another, take a food break, and then return to enjoy the activities.

One of the highlights of this edition is the Cabes’race, but in a smaller format. The course, about ten minutes long, will offer 20 supervised obstacles to overcome as a team in a friendly rather than competitive spirit. Another very attractive novelty is a 60-meter zip line, accessible from 9 years old and installed by adventure park professionals.

Enthusiasts of challenges can also try the ninja course from the age of 6, participate in the orientation race organized by Côte 66 with three circuits of about a dozen checkpoints, or discover American football. The game of boules will also be honored thanks to the Amicale des boulistes de Cabestany. To complement this festive atmosphere, there will be giant inflatable games on a 42-meter playground, musical entertainment, a bar run by the COC omnisports, and the food truck Le burger des copains to accompany the day. Parental authorization will be required for some children’s activities. It can be filled out on-site or downloaded from the City’s website.

“This event is 100% dedicated to an intergenerational audience,” emphasized sports deputy Marie-Pierre Garcia. “The sports and youth services have worked closely together to make this annual event a strong meeting point for an active and sporty city.” With this great celebration of movement and sharing, Cabestany aims to remind everyone that sports are primarily a collective adventure, open to all and synonymous with enjoyment.
