Paris SG – Bayern Munich

A footballing fireworks display, lighting up the Parc des Princes for over 90 minutes. Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich, the two best teams in Europe, put on a magnificent show that will go down in the annals of the Champions League. The capital club heroically triumphed over the Bavarian giants (5-4) in the first leg of the semi-final, and will need to maintain this advantage on May 6th in Munich if they want to be crowned champions once again.

From the very start of the match, sparks flew as the attacking players engaged in a fiercely intense encounter. The pressing was relentless, leaving little room for respite. Bayern were the first to find the back of the net with a penalty converted by Harry Kane (0-1, 17th minute). It could have easily been more, but Michael Olise missed a golden opportunity to extend the lead (20th minute). The French winger showcased his skills, dancing past the Parisian defense with his mesmerizing moves (32nd minute).

Kvaratskhelia, decisive once again

Despite a slow start, the reigning European champions grew stronger as the minutes passed, taking advantage of defensive lapses by the opposition. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia leveled the score with a curled effort (1-1, 24th minute), setting off a chain of events resembling a pinball game, with the ball bouncing at high speed.

Joao Neves put PSG ahead with a well-placed header from a Dembele corner (2-1, 33rd minute), before Olise equalized with a powerful strike (2-2, 41st minute). The back-and-forth nature of the match continued, with Dembele converting a penalty awarded for a handball by Alphonso Davies (3-2, 45th+5 minute).

The Bayern never stopped believing

In the second half, Kvaratskhelia showcased his finishing skills once more, extending the lead with a header from a cross by Achraf Hakimi (4-2, 56th minute). Dembele then sealed the victory with a counter-attacking goal, beating Neuer with the help of the right post (5-2, 58th minute). At that moment, PSG held a three-goal advantage and seemed to have done enough.

However, the Rekordmeister refused to give up. Dayot Upamecano’s header from a Joshua Kimmich free-kick gave Bayern hope (5-3, 65th minute), before Luis Diaz added a fourth goal (5-4, 68th minute).

Vincent Kompany’s men pushed to level the score, but PSG managed to hold on for the win, even coming close to scoring again in the dying moments with a shot from Senny Mayulu hitting the crossbar (87th minute). The return leg promises to be an exciting one!
