A group of seven teenagers from Nice have taken on the challenge of climbing Mont Blanc. Their goal is to support an association that helps children with cancer at the Nice University Hospital (Alpes-Maritimes). But before they can start, they need to raise funds.

The meeting is early at 9 o’clock, on the heights of Nice (Alpes-Maritimes), at Mont-Boron, for an orientation challenge. Registrations will contribute to a fund launched by a group of young people from Nice who have set out to climb Mont Blanc in July. Ethan and Lucas are here to explain their project. “Here, we are in the preparation phase and next week we will do a 3,000,” they explain.

This somewhat crazy idea came to them after a hike in the Dolomites (Italy). The supervisors accompanying them say “challenge accepted,” provided that the young people find sponsors. The teens then launch an online fundraising campaign. They still need 10,000 euros to pay for shelters, equipment, and professional guides.

“We will have two preparatory expeditions for Mont Blanc, one at Grand Paradis where we will do the entire mountaineering school with the mountain guides, and then we will spend three days in the Mont Rose massif to acclimatize one week before the ascent of Mont Blanc,” says Matteo Chenu, sports educator of the “Terr’a Loisirs” association.

The next checkpoint for Lili, Emry, Louka, Zoé, Noam, Ethan, and Léandre will be on July 12 at exactly 4,806 meters altitude.
