Reproducing the main monuments of Lavaur was the request made by Lavaur FC to Alexis Bottan to design their jerseys.
Since the 2020 season, regular spectators at Lavaur FC matches have noticed that the players regularly wear original jerseys. In blue or red, the Vauréens’ tunics feature designs showcasing the main monuments of Lavaur: the Jacquemart, the Saint-Alain cathedral, the 3 Grâces, the tour des Rondes, and the former Palais de Justice, now the town hall. Behind these designs is Alexis Bottan.
A true Vauréen, who now works as an architect, he has always been a draftsman since childhood. “I am above all a creative person and I have always drawn since I was a child,” he says. Used to basketball courts and the orange ball, training in Lavaur, he then played in Colomiers and spent a year in the Roanne training center (Loire). However, it was a football club that called upon Alexis Bottan’s artistic talents. “Through Thomas Pagès, a friend involved in the club, I was asked to create designs for the jerseys. The idea was to represent the monuments, then I had free rein for the transcription.”
And the result is quite original: Alexis Bottan has drawn the monuments, some from photos, in a stylized way in pastel colors. “When I draw, my goal is to naturally convey the emotion that the subject inspires in me. That’s what I liked about this project. And drawing the monuments of the city where I live is really nice!”
This gave him ideas to propose his drawing ideas to other clubs in the city. In the meantime, Alexis Bottan is dedicated to developing his architect firm A+B, drawing and painting inspired by Kandisky, Miro or L7M, as well as animals, architecture, automobiles or music.
