During Sunday’s Grandes Gueules du Sport on RMC, Pascal Dupraz criticized Medhi Benatia’s comments following Marseille’s defeat to Lorient on Saturday (2-0) in Ligue 1. Benatia described his team’s performance as a “scandal,” questioning the players’ mentality, which Dupraz called out on the show.

Dupraz expressed disappointment in Benatia’s communication style, saying, “When you listen to Benatia, you can’t help but feel that everyone is just looking out for themselves at this club.” He pointed out that Benatia also bears responsibility and questioned why Benatia chose to criticize the players in the media instead of addressing it internally at the training ground.

Benatia, in turn, gave a lengthy interview to journalists criticizing the player’s performance. He highlighted the lack of urgency and initiative from the team, asking why nobody took action in the dressing room after the match. Dupraz disapproved of Benatia’s approach, especially coming from a former player like Habib Beye, calling it easy to blame the players and questioning Benatia’s remarks about Lorient.

Marseille currently sits fourth in Ligue 1 after 30 matches, with Lyon and Rennes closing in on them. The team faces tough challenges ahead as Lyon plays PSG and Rennes takes on Strasbourg this Sunday. Marseille is trailing Lille by two points, who currently holds the third position. Next week, Marseille will play against OGC Nice at the Vélodrome.
