Surprising news for the new mayor of Trélissac, Éric Fallous. “I had received Mrs. Salomon [Editor’s note: Nathalie Salomon, secretary of the organizing association of the event] who had initially told me that it was not going ahead. Then I read that in the end, it is happening!”
Context element: Formerly a municipal councillor in Francis Colbac’s majority, Nathalie Salomon is now in opposition, as her list was defeated by Éric Fallous. And while she refuses to comment to avoid harming the event, she still admits she is not worried that it will take place. It is also known that the Salon du livre de sport de Trélissac team has been looking into organizing the event elsewhere in the area.
A financial issue is adding to this political conflict because, to organize the fair, explains the mayor of Trélissac, the association that has been receiving subsidies from the municipality will need 4000 euros. “I am told that I have to finance 4,000 euros,” explains Éric Fallous. “But they cannot specifically tell me why. And anyway, subsidies to associations will only be decided at the end of May or the beginning of June, so the association would not have the money in its coffers for several months,” adds the newly elected mayor, who takes the opportunity to point out that the fair had chosen to move to the town’s media library “with smaller dimensions”. “This is an event that is declining. It is public money. We cannot do just anything.” The organizers, for their part, claim they do not know the number of visitors from the previous edition.
As of April 14, the holding of the Salon du livre de sport de Trélissac was still uncertain. Will it take place? And where? Mystery. “I have not canceled the reservation of the media library, I have not received any letter from the association indicating that it will not happen in Trélissac for now,” assures Éric Fallous. A press release should be sent by the organizers to the local press shortly, to reveal the information that has not yet leaked.
