She is one of the most anticipated faces at the Cannes Film Festival. Actress, director, producer, and L’Oréal Paris ambassador since 2005, Eva Longoria, 51, landed on the French Riviera on Sunday, May 17 for the 79th edition of the festival. But before facing the red carpet flashes, the American star chose another stage: a village in Var, far from the Cannes hustle and bustle.

On Monday, May 18, she shared several photos on Instagram of this escapade. In the caption, a simple “South of France.” In the pictures, she is seen dining at Chez Bruno restaurant, in the Var town of Lorgues. The establishment, run by Benjamin Bruno, is a gastronomic institution in the region, renowned beyond French borders. Even George Clooney discreetly stopped by in February 2014. For Eva Longoria, this address holds a special flavor. She had previously visited in 2017 with her husband José Bastón to celebrate their wedding anniversary. A return to her roots for one of the stars of Desperate Housewives.

Prestigious truffle dishes

Chez Bruno offers a true culinary journey around truffles. The menus vary depending on the chosen truffle variety. The Tuber Uncinatum menu, for example, is priced at 98 euros. It starts with a chestnut velouté from Piemonte with foie gras mousse, followed by the famous “Anthology Dish” (a baked potato, truffle cream and generous grated truffle), then braised beef cheeks in red wine truffle risotto, cheese, and desserts by pastry chef Damien Goelen. Moving up, the Tuber Melanosporum menu goes up to 187 euros, and the all-truffle tasting menu to 218 euros. A vegetarian option is also available, priced between 98 euros and 187 euros depending on the selected truffles. Chez Bruno immortalized Eva Longoria’s visit on Instagram the same day. A great publicity for a Michelin-starred restaurant that, ultimately, doesn’t really need it anymore.

Possessing a passion for France and its cuisine, Eva Longoria had already highlighted French terroir in her documentary series Searching for France, which notably explores French gastronomy. While she seems to have a penchant for truffles, the American actress recently revealed to Envols magazine that her favorite dish is Alsatian: sauerkraut.
