Cha Ga Won, a leader who heads p_Arc Group and One Hundred Label, is now targeted by an investigation for an alleged fraud case estimated at about 30 billion won, equivalent to nearly 18 million euros. This is the first time she has been officially questioned as a suspect in this case.
According to information from local media, the financial crimes division of the Seoul Metropolitan Police has summoned her for questioning on June 6 and 7. The investigation focuses on suspicions related to fraudulent activities in commercial partnerships in the entertainment industry.
Cha Ga Won is suspected of using the reputation and artists from her agencies to attract investors and enter into partnerships. She is said to have received financial advances for projects that ultimately never materialized.
Authorities are currently handling three separate complaints, totaling an estimated 30 billion won, or around 18 million euros. During her hearing, the leader denied all accusations, claiming that these prosecutions are linked to malicious intentions in an attempt to take control of her businesses.
She also stated that she has the will and ability to repay the advanced sums. She believes that the financial situation and image of her company have deteriorated due to negative reports and attacks targeting the company.
As part of the investigation, the police raided the offices of Big Planet Made Entertainment, a subsidiary of One Hundred Label, on May 3. Investigators are now analyzing the seized items to review financial flows and contracts.
Additionally, Cha Ga Won is involved in several disputes with artists regarding unpaid payments. On May 21, nine members of THE BOYZ group filed a complaint, accusing her of fund embezzlement under the law on aggravated economic crimes.
One Hundred Label and its associated structures, including INB100 (EXO-CBX) and Big Planet Made Entertainment (related to Lee Seung Gi), are currently embroiled in several legal tensions. Several artists from these labels have initiated procedures to attempt to terminate their contracts.
