Three months after the death of the actor from Dawson, his widow has taken over his Instagram account to pay tribute to him and document her grief, a journey that she intends to continue sharing with all those who supported her.
A long and winding path. Three months after the passing of James Van Der Beek from colorectal cancer, his widow Kimberly van der Beek has spoken on her Instagram account to pay a new tribute to her late husband. But more importantly, to speak candidly about the reality of the grief she has been experiencing since his passing, with ups and downs. “Yesterday marked three months since we lost James,” she began. “To say my heart is shattered is a severe understatement. Words simply cannot explain what grief is.”
“The shock has passed, reality sets in…and I miss him. We all miss him,” she added, under a carousel of unseen pictures of the actor with his children, sleeping in one of his beds, riding in a boat, or engaged in archery. Memories of another life, never to forget this sweet reality that now belongs to the past.
“The veils of the universe”
While grief remains painful, James Van Der Beek’s widow hints at a note of hope. “There is a different kind of magic in the air. I feel it. I know it more deeply,” she writes about her husband. “My conscious connection to God has deepened. The veils of the universe have thinned. And I trust that this is the path my family and I were always meant to follow.”
A beautiful testimony of resilience, before warmly thanking all the fans who provided the help she needed at the time of her husband’s passing. Indeed, following his death on February 11th, Kimberly Van Der Beek launched a fundraiser on Go Fund Me. “Throughout his illness, the family had to face not only emotional difficulties, but also significant financial constraints, as she did everything possible to support James and provide him with necessary care,” reads the online fundraising page. “James’ medical expenses and the long battle against cancer depleted the family’s financial resources.” Since then, over $2.8 million has been raised.

“The outpouring of support has been immense,” praises the mother of six children. “It supported our family in the most beautiful way. You have exceeded everything I could have expected in supporting us and honoring James. I am deeply grateful. There is so much more to share here. And in time – I will.”
