Jean-Pascal Lacoste is turning a new page in his professional life. The former contestant of the first season of Star Academy, who recently opened up about his past addictions, is now stepping away from TV sets to take on an unexpected challenge in the world of golf. After music, comedy, and television, the 47-year-old father of four children, who is in a relationship with Delphine Tellier, is pursuing an ambitious career change. His passion for golf, which began several years ago, has reached a significant milestone with the validation of a crucial exam.
Jean-Pascal Lacoste achieves a milestone in his new career Having risen to fame in 2001 on Star Academy, Jean-Pascal Lacoste has had various media experiences. He was seen as an actor on “Section de recherches” and as a commentator on “Touche pas à mon poste!”. However, the former singer has opted for a complete change in direction. For several months now, he has been undergoing an intensive training program to become a golf teacher. According to a post from the Journal du Golf on Instagram, he recently passed the Professional Open exam after three months of rigorous learning. This achievement is significant for someone who now aims to share his passion on French greens starting in 2026.
During the exam, Jean-Pascal Lacoste admitted to facing a particularly stressful moment. He especially mentioned a challenge during a technical workshop focused on “pitch and run”. “The only test where I was very scared was the pitch and run,” he shared before recounting his final decisive attempt. “Five balls, Mr. Lacoste, this is your last try,” the examiner reportedly said. Faced with the pressure, the former commentator then focused on “the fundamentals” before successfully making his shot. “Posture, alignment, and bam, it went in perfectly,” he humorously explained. Thanks to this success, he now continues on his path towards earning his professional degree with confidence.
A passion for golf turned into a real-life project This career change is not a coincidence. Jean-Pascal Lacoste has been playing golf for nearly a decade and has a genuine passion for the sport. Since January, he has been undergoing training in Toulouse to obtain his Pro Teaching diploma within a year. Residing in the Basque Country, the former reality TV contestant had shared with L’équipe that this passion was born during a difficult time in his life. “I discovered this sport during my divorce,” he revealed. Quickly, this activity became an essential part of his daily life. “I left surfing, to go from the waves to the grass,” he also sincerely confessed. Alongside this new professional venture, Jean-Pascal Lacoste fully enjoys his family life. Father to four children, he divides his time between his training and life in Saint-Jean-de-Luz. His two eldest, Kylie and Maverick, are from his previous marriage to Jennifer Jacobs. For several years, he has been with Delphine Tellier, whom he met in 2016. Together, they welcomed two daughters, Ainhoa and Riley, born in April 2025. This new balance seems to suit the former artist perfectly, as he now builds a quieter but deeply connected career based on his daily passion for golf.
