Airvault Allegro: A successful classical music festival in its second edition
In 2025, the Airvault Allegro classical music festival near Thouars made a strong debut with all five concerts sold out. Encouraged by this popular success, the organizers have decided to amplify for the second edition scheduled from July 18 to August 15 in Airvault.
“We are very happy that people trust us,” summarizes Sylvie Le Merrer-Petrou, who initiated the festival with her husband George Petrou, a virtuoso pianist and international conductor. The couple, owners of the Château des Sénéchaux for three years, fell in love with Airvault and its residents, especially the volunteers who support them in organizing the festival.
“It is not reserved for the elite, on the contrary”
This year, a total of eight concerts are on the program featuring a lineup of artists who may not be familiar names but are true international stars in their field. The second edition also features Camélia Jordana, whose fame transcends opera borders. During the opening concert on Saturday, July 18, she will perform with George Petrou on the stage of the Château des Sénéchaux, set up in a large barn.
It is also a way to make Airvault known and shine…. (Context: Positive statements about the festival’s impact on the town and community)
