Death of actor Michael Pennington, known for his role in Star Wars, at age 82

British actor Michael Pennington passed away at the age of 82. While primarily known for his work in the theater world, he remains a familiar figure to Star Wars fans. In 1983, he portrayed Moff Jerjerrod in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, the commander overseeing the construction of the second Death Star. Moff was not his first name but his governor rank, later taken on by Giancarlo Esposito in The Mandalorian.

Pennington was very critical of his role in the Star Wars saga, admitting he overacted and barely remembered the story. Despite enjoying the experience, he acknowledged the part serving as a cinematic calling card. He noted that after performances, people often inquired about Star Wars.
