In Aniane, a variety of activities were offered over the May 1st weekend, including flea markets, a shepherd’s trail, and Izi Sunday. On Sunday, May 3rd, the rustic setting of Jardin Saint-Rome hosted the first Izi Sunday event where three musical groups (Ukulélé club, Balu and Borumba, and Bois Vert) took the stage to brighten up the day. A mural, a charity thrift shop, and games were also available during this day focused on solidarity, with the proceeds from the bar going to the Saint-André-de-Sangonis branch of the Secours populaire. “We operate in several municipalities, including Aniane,” said volunteers Célia and Claire. Altogether, the Secours populaire assists households in 13 municipalities in the Hérault Valley and in Saint-Félix-de-Lodez (Clermontais community of municipalities). The emergency reception, solidarity, and health service (Pass) is available three times a week at the Saint-André location. “We welcome many single-parent families and individuals who cannot work full-time,” explained Célia and Claire. Combining culture and solidarity, Izi Sunday will return on May 17th and 31st.
