Throughout the month of May, bike rides, school challenges, and activities will be taking place in Piège, Lauragais, and Malepère.

On Saturday, the town of Bram and the Piège Lauragais Malepère Community of Communes (CCPLM), in collaboration with EcoBram & Co, Cyclos Bramais, and La Roue Qui Tourne, kicked off the 6th national edition of “Mai à vélo”, with the 3rd local iteration. Starting at 8:30 am at Square Simon, the bike fair began, followed by the first family bike ride of 20 km at 10:30 am, and then a 10 km ride at 11 am, bringing together a diverse group of cyclists of all ages.

Back at the Parc des Essars, speeches were given by Caroline Rey, president of EcoBram & Co, Etienne Demur, co-president of FUB (Fédération des Usagers de la Bicyclette) from Aigues-Mortes on a folding mini-bike and train, André Viola, president of CCPLM, and Claudie Faucon-Méjean, mayor and vice-president of the region, commending the volunteers and inviting the public to enjoy the month of May on bikes. The day included children enjoying pedal carousels and skill courses, while teens and adults explored bike culture with the “Le Nez Au Vent” show and a choir concert.

The day concluded at Halle Claude Nougaro with a screening of the film “Partir”, by adventurer Maxime Rey from Aude, shown using a bike-powered projector. In the afternoon, children had fun on pedal carousels and skill courses, while teens and adults learned about bike culture with the show “Le Nez Au Vent” and the Fresco of Mobility, followed by a concert by the CCPLM choir. The day ended with the screening of the film “Partir”, by Aude adventurer Maxime Rey, powered by a bike with several spectators pedaling to fuel the video projector.
