For over 15 years, the choir of Claire Fontaine has been organizing a large solidarity flea market at the Atrium every year. The objective is to raise funds necessary for the organization of its concerts in Digne-les-Bains (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence) and elsewhere. A wide variety of items can be found – clothing, jewelry, dishes, appliances, baby items, and books – generously donated by choir members and their loved ones.

Founded by Henri Cazères, the choir is celebrating its 80th anniversary this year. It currently has 50 singers, including 12 men. A significant aspect is that the founder’s daughter and granddaughter, now the director of the conservatory in Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, will be present at the festivities. A beautiful example of family tradition, where “the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.”

The celebrations will continue with two major events at the Palais des Congrès. On June 4, 2026 at 9:00 PM, there will be a medley of songs performed since the choir’s creation, under the direction of Anne Allard, the choir’s conductor. Then, on June 27, 2026 at 8:00 PM, Puccini’s “Messa di Gloria” will be performed, accompanied by the Opus orchestra made up of 40 musicians. For this occasion, the choir will be joined by singers from all over the region.

Through this anniversary, the entire cultural vitality of the community is being highlighted. For 80 years, Claire Fontaine has actively contributed to the town’s entertainment, bringing generations together through music and choral singing.
