In an interview with Ophélie Meunier and Carole Juge-Llewellyn, Julien Clerc opened up about his personal life. The 78-year-old singer discussed his romantic life and his relationships with his former wives. Married since 2012 to writer Hélène Grémillon, who has been by his side for 22 years (and whom he still addresses formally), Clerc, who is a father of five children, was completely open about the balance he seeks. His children (Angèle, Jeanne, Vanille, Barnabé, and Léonard) come from three different relationships, with Miou-Miou, Virginie Couperie-Eiffel, and Hélène Grémillon.

Julien Clerc expressed the importance of maintaining good relationships with ex-partners. He believes it is crucial to remain friends with someone you once loved, even if the romantic relationship has ended. According to him, it is important for children—no matter how old they are—to see their parents occasionally.

The singer revealed that he has fallen in love with women with strong personalities throughout his life. From France Gall to Miou-Miou to Virginie Couperie-Eiffel, each woman was exceptional in her own right, with strong demands. These inspiring women have helped shape him into the man he is today, starting with Miou-Miou, who quickly made it clear that he needed to take his share of responsibility in family life.

Julien Clerc and Miou-Miou met and fell in love on the set of the film “D’amour et d’eau fraîche” in 1975. Their relationship was not well received by Patrick Dewaere, who was then in a relationship with Miou-Miou. Miou-Miou was already a mother to a young girl named Angèle, who would later become Clerc’s adopted daughter at the age of 18. Through his relationship with Miou-Miou, Clerc discovered the responsibilities and joys of fatherhood for the first time.

Reflecting on his early days with Jeanne, the daughter he had with Miou-Miou in 1978, Clerc fondly remembers feeding her at night when she would only open her eyes during those hours. He cherished those moments because he was the only one to see her eyes at that time.
