Two tournaments are being organized: one elite and one for youth. The latter was won by the U13 team from RAAL La Louvière, a club that has been promoted to the Super League. The elite tournament had the presence of French clubs like Saint-Maur (D2) and FC Versailles. Also, the national team of Luxembourg faced Belgium in early June as part of the World Cup qualifiers and had to compete against a youth selection from Anderlecht and Standard.
This setting has become ideal to end the season. “It’s a great tournament where we mix quality with the elite but also the festive aspect. This Saturday, BBFL set the stage on fire with a hip hop concert. It’s a fun touch. We want this tournament to remain a celebration of women’s football,” explains Nicolas Rolis.
This tournament mainly closes their month dedicated to the women’s sector. The Brussels team had organized a seminar, led by Christine Schröder, where Lola Mansour was present. The club indeed has the will to carry out social projects for girls, under the impetus of Steven Gibas and Cécile De Gernier, but also with Cédric Michel, the coach of the first team playing in IP Dames, equivalent to the 3rd national division.
The club, which has 120 female players including two senior teams and four teams for young girls, aims to be a player in the development of women’s football. “In fact, we created, with the FFA, the first UEFA C 100% women’s license,” our interlocutor rejoices. “Our players have also reached out to young girls in schools.”
