After 2 years of absence, the Blues will return to Bordeaux in the autumn of 2026. The French Football Federation officially announced on Tuesday the holding of a match between France and Turkey at the Matmut Atlantique on Sunday, November 15, as part of the group stage of the 2026-2027 Nations League.

The last visit of the French team to Bordeaux dates back to June 9, 2024. Didier Deschamps’ men then faced Canada in a preparation match for the Euros, in a closed Atlantique stadium.

This new match against Turkey will mark the 7th meeting in the history of the Blues in the Girondin capital. A choice made by Philippe Diallo, president of the FFF, who wants to see the French team “as close as possible to the supporters” everywhere in the country.

Before this Bordeaux rendezvous, the schedule includes: Turkey vs. France on September 25, Belgium vs. France on September 28, France vs. Italy on October 2 at the Stade de France, France vs. Belgium on October 5 at the Stade de France, Italy vs. France on November 12, and France vs. Turkey on November 15 in Bordeaux. This last match could be decisive for the Blues’ qualification in the competition.

This Bordeaux match could also have a special flavor. After the 2026 World Cup, Didier Deschamps is expected to leave his position as coach and Zinedine Zidane appears to be the frontrunner to succeed him.

If this appointment is confirmed, Bordeaux could host one of the very first high-stakes matches under “Zizou” at the helm of the French team.
