As part of its major citizens’ tour, a large regional delegation was present Wednesday morning on the Lafranaise market, led by regional advisors MM. Portolès and Lescure. Discussions with residents were numerous and constructive. It is also an opportunity to publicize the actions carried out by the Region for a stronger Occitanie, in France and in Europe.
Being stronger means investing in education, health, research, industry, food sovereignty, green energy and low-carbon transport, while remaining faithful to essential values: solidarity, social justice and secularism. Despite the difficulties of daily life, the Region continues to support those who undertake and protect the most vulnerable. It offers the cheapest return to school in France, employs more than 200 doctors, supports entrepreneurs and farmers, offers free transport to young people and puts 14 million train tickets at 1 euro into circulation each year.
Despite national budgetary constraints, Occitanie remains the French region which invests the most in its inhabitants. Since 2016, the President of the Region, Carole Delga, and her majority have favored action over big speeches, with method and humility.
This citizen tour, “The Region at our side”, illustrates the desire to be as close as possible to the territories in order to preserve the quality of life and build the future of Occitania together.
