The island, subjected to an energy blockade by Washington, is facing a very serious crisis.

Cuba is “ready” to consider the $100 million aid proposal from the United States, announced on Thursday by the Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs, at a time when the island, subjected to an energy blockade by Washington, is facing a very serious energy crisis.

“We are ready to listen to the details of the proposal and how it would materialize,” stated the Cuban Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodriguez, on the social network X. The US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, renewed the offer on Wednesday, on the condition that this aid would be distributed by the Catholic Church, bypassing the communist government.

Massive Power Outage

The eastern part of Cuba was hit by a massive power outage on Thursday, announced the national electricity company, at a time when the island, subjected to an energy blockade imposed by Washington, is facing a deep energy crisis.

“At 06:09 a partial disconnection of the electrical network occurred,” indicated the electricity company UNE in an informative note posted on its website. The company specified that seven out of fifteen provinces were affected by this disconnection.

This new massive power outage comes as the country, under strict fuel restrictions due to pressure from Washington, has acknowledged an “extended” electrical situation in recent days due to fuel shortages.
