“I’ll realize one and he’ll do another,” Spielberg told the public in Cannes.

Spielberg admitted during an exchange with the audience on the sidelines of the Cannes Film Festival. “Steven made his film, and in fifteen years, I still have not made mine. I feel very embarrassed about that,” added the filmmaker, who received an honorary Palme d’Or on Tuesday during the festival’s opening ceremony. “The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn” was directed by American filmmaker Steven Spielberg and produced by Peter Jackson.

Fran Walsh on the screenplay

“I worked with Fran (Walsh, his partner) on another Tintin screenplay,” detailed the New Zealand director, who turned J.R.R. Tolkien’s trilogy “The Lord of the Rings” into one of the most lucrative franchises in box office history. He explained that he is working on this screenplay in his hotel room in Cannes. He declared himself a fan of the adventures of the young reporter Tintin, a character created by the Belgian cartoonist and writer Hergé, which have been a staple of youth comic books since the 1930s.
