The 34th International Cello Festival of Beauvais will take place from May 29 to June 7, 2026, promising a series of exceptional musical events. This edition focuses on the theme of legend and openness, highlighting the history of the cello in French culture while celebrating Japanese influences. Artistic director Diana Ligeti, in office since 2025, has brought together renowned artists such as Atsushi Sakai and Dai Miyata, who will interact with iconic French figures like Valérie Aimard and Raphaël Pidoux.

The program includes a variety of concerts, conferences, and workshops in various iconic locations in Beauvais. The festival will kick off with an opening concert on May 29 featuring the Orchestre de Picardie. Other highlights include school demonstrations, recitals, and exhibitions on Japanese heritage and lutherie. Interactive activities such as Kintsugi workshops and instrument trials will also enrich the visitors’ experience.

Events such as a kimono parade and a closing concert on June 7 will mark the end of the festival, which promises to be a true celebration of Franco-Japanese cello culture. With free entry to many activities, the festival aims to bridge the gap between artists and the audience while fostering a sense of camaraderie around a shared love for music.
