The group releases “Où va nous?”, one of the best albums of the band that has been active for forty-two years. Meeting with its leader.

Forty-two years of existence, fifteen albums, dozens of tours: the longevity of the Wampas is truly admirable. In the punk rock scene of the late 1970s, these Parisian rebels preferred the thrills and spills of a long career, becoming an institution without taking themselves too seriously. Not an easy feat considering the number of French punk rock bands that have faded into obscurity since the early 1980s. “The Wampas are proof that God exists,” the band joked in one of their album titles.

Devoted fans and others have reason to rejoice: the release of “Où va nous?” (Athome Records), their new studio album, is a thrilling moment. The record stands out as one of the best in the extensive discography of the Wampas. “It was made in a hurry,” explains Didier Wampas over the phone.
