Some Republican officials criticized the left, while Donald Trump, in an interview a few hours later, took a swipe at the media and Democrats. Melania Trump set the tone by accusing talk show host Jimmy Kimmel of spreading hatred and violence, referring to a joke he made two days before the gala where he compared her to a widow-to-be.
