Armand Duplantis cleared 6.31m on Thursday to improve his 15th world record.

Once again. The Swedish prodigy of pole vault, Armand “Mondo” Duplantis, improved his world record on Thursday in Uppsala, clearing 6.31m on his first attempt.

The 26-year-old pole vaulter improved his world record for the 15th time, which he has held since surpassing 6.17m in 2020, breaking Renaud Lavillenie’s record. His previous record dated back to September during his world title in Tokyo. For the first time, the Swedish prodigy beat his world record at his meeting, the Mondo Classic held in Uppsala. In front of his standing audience, the Swede embarked on a victory lap, draped in the Swedish flag.

“This is my house. This is our house. That’s how it is. And you know that every time I’m on the track, I represent you. And I do it with a lot of pride,” he said to the audience just after his new record. “I am so proud to have been able to do it in front of you. I jump for myself, I jump for my family, but I also jump for you, for Sweden, and for all those who support me,” he added.

Norwegian Sondre Guttormsen (6.00m) was the only other competitor to clear 6 meters in this competition.
