On Sunday evening, Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez affirmed, “manifestly it is the far-left that was at work” and pointed the finger at the possible involvement of the anti-fascist group “La Jeune Garde.”

“It is ‘unthinkable’ for the left to ‘harbor any doubt’ about a ‘possible alliance with La France insoumise’ in the 2027 presidential election,” said the Euro MP Place Publique Raphaël Glucksmann on Monday after the death of Quentin, an identitarian activist killed by antifa militants.

“We will be this defense barrier of democracy, precisely because we will not make any alliance with movements that harm democracy, including La France insoumise,” Glucksmann emphasized.

Glucksmann accused Jean-Luc Mélenchon, Euro MP Rima Hassan, deputies Raphaël Arnault and Thomas Portes of “adding fuel to the fire” in the political debate and deeming it “absolutely irresponsible.”

The Lyon prosecutor is expected to hold a press conference on Monday at 3:00 PM to shed light on the attack on Quentin Deranque, 23, who died on Saturday after being attacked while providing security for the Identitarian group Nemesis protesting against a conference by Euro MP LFI Rima Hassan at Sciences-Po Lyon.

Minister of Interior Laurent Nuñez on Sunday evening asserted, “manifestly it is the far-left that was at work” and implicated the anti-fascist group “La Jeune Garde.” The antifa collective, which denied any involvement, was founded by Raphaël Arnault, currently a deputy of La France insoumise. Arnault expressed “horror and disgust” after the student’s death.
