“Every dollar paid for Russian oil is money for war” in Moscow against Ukraine, regretted Volodymyr Zelensky on Sunday, April 19, after the extension until May 16 of the suspension of American sanctions on Russian oil. “Due to the easing of sanctions”, this oil loaded on tankers “can be sold again without consequences”, deplored the Ukrainian president. “This represents 10 billion dollars, a resource that is directly converted into new strikes against Ukraine”, according to Volodymyr Zelensky.

“Just this week, Russia has launched over 2,360 drone attacks, over 1,320 guided aerial bombs, and nearly 60 missiles.”

The decision by Washington concerns all operations related to the loading and delivery of oil from Russia and also applies to Russian ghost fleet vessels previously under sanctions. The only limitation: transactions with Iran, North Korea, Cuba, and the occupied Ukrainian regions, including Crimea, remain prohibited.
