The working visit of the President of the National Assembly, Tran Thanh Man, is an important activity in the implementation of the foreign policy orientations of the 14th National Congress.

At the invitation of the President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), Tulia Ackson, and the Secretary-General of the IPU, Martin Chungong, on behalf of the leaders of the Party and the State, the President of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man and his wife, accompanied by a high-level Vietnamese delegation, participated in the 152nd General Assembly of the IPU in Istanbul (Turkey), engaged in several bilateral activities in Turkey, and made an official visit to the Italian Republic from April 11 to 17.

On this occasion, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dang Hoang Giang granted an interview to the press regarding the results of the working visit of the President of the National Assembly, Tran Thanh Man.

In parallel with the activities of the President of the National Assembly, the Vietnamese delegation also actively participated in the sessions of the IPU Executive Council, IPU Standing Committees, Forum of Women Parliamentarians, Forum of Young Parliamentarians, Association of Secretaries General of Parliaments (ASGP), Asia-Pacific Geopolitical Group (APG), ASEAN+3 Group, attended the seminar on the Hanoi Convention on Cybercrime, and contributed directly to the drafting of numerous documents of the General Assembly.

During the 152nd IPU General Assembly, and in accordance with the rotation mechanism, Vietnam assumed the presidency of the ASEAN+3 group at the next 153rd IPU General Assembly. Vietnam presented an initiative to strengthen the resilience and strategic autonomy of its economy, highlighting the role of parliaments in improving the legal framework, supporting businesses, and promoting the interests of citizens.

The message and proposals of Vietnam received favorable reception, positive evaluation, and approval from many member parliaments and delegates participating in the meeting, contributing to affirming Vietnam’s image as an active and responsible partner in promoting parliamentary cooperation and strengthening multilateralism.

Furthermore, the President of the National Assembly held numerous bilateral meetings with parliamentary leaders from other countries, strengthening political trust and promoting cooperation in various areas such as economy, trade, investment, science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, defense, and security.

Partners praised the success of the 14th Party Congress and the elections of the 16th National Assembly, congratulated the new Party and State leaders, acknowledged Vietnam’s contributions in multilateral mechanisms, including the IPU, and expressed their respect for Vietnam and willingness to continue strengthening bilateral cooperation in general and with the Vietnamese National Assembly in particular.
